Usage

Usage

Return-Side (Empty-Section) Cleaner — a V-shaped scraper on the belt's return strand that catches material shedding off after the head pulley and guides it to the sides. It stops that fallback from caking onto return idlers and pulleys, which otherwise causes mistracking, belt wander and the fire risk from friction heat.

Technical overview

Belt cleaners scrape carryback off the return strand so material does not build up on pulleys, idlers and structure. HBXM offers primary and secondary cleaners with polyurethane or tungsten blades rated for wet, sticky and abrasive ores.

Why is a belt cleaner important?

Without cleaning, carryback wears pulleys and idlers, causes mistracking and creates housekeeping and safety hazards under the conveyor.

Primary vs secondary cleaner: which do I need?

Use a primary cleaner at the head pulley for bulk carryback, then a secondary cleaner downstream for the fine residual layer.

Which blade material lasts longest?

Polyurethane suits most dry and medium-abrasive ores; tungsten or ceramic-tipped blades are best for very hard, wet and sticky materials.

Can cleaners be retrofitted to an existing conveyor?

Yes. Our cleaners mount to standard stringer widths with adjustable tension and fit most head-pulley arrangements without conveyor modification.

Highlights

Features

Vertical / empty-section mount

Fits the discharge or empty belt section where standard cleaners can't reach.

Flexible PU blade

Conforms to the belt for a clean wipe without damaging the carcass.

Self-adjusting tensioners

Spring / torque-arm tensioners keep blade contact uniform as the blade wears.

Polyurethane blade

PU compound Shore 85–95 A wipes carryback while staying gentle on the belt.

Modular mounting

Adjustable brackets fit B500–B2400 widths and head-pulley layouts.

Quick blade swap

Cartridges swap without removing the frame, cutting downtime.

Quality

1

Blade integrity

One-piece polyurethane blade cast to consistent Shore hardness for a clean wipe.

2

Tensioner reliability

Dual self-adjusting springs hold constant contact across the blade life.

3

Frame strength

Welded beam load-tested for pulley-side installation.

4

Finish options

Epoxy / powder coat or full stainless for port and coastal duty.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a scraper and a cleaner?

In practice the words overlap. What matters is blade material, mounting point and spring pressure — a scraper usually describes the heavier, spring-loaded arm type used in harsh, abrasive duty.

How much pressure should the blade apply?

Enough to clean, no more. Excess pressure is what causes chatter, hotspots and premature blade wear — the springs should be set so the blade just kisses the belt.

Can I run a scraper on a mechanical splice?

Yes, with a segmented or oblique blade and a bevelled splice. Run the belt slowly for the first few passes after fitting and check that no segment is catching.
