Usage

Usage

Hydraulic Belt Training Device — an actuator, a hydraulic cylinder, that nudges the belt or a training frame back to centre when sensors detect drift. On very long or heavily loaded lines it provides strong, powered correction that passive idlers cannot, protecting the belt from edge damage.

Operating conditions

Operating conditions

Working temperatureAmbient service range (-20 °C to +40 °C); sealed bearings rated for the same band.
Dusty environmentSuitable — labyrinth or IP65 seals keep dust out of the bearings
Moisture & waterSuitable — IP65 sealing for outdoor, port, washdown and humid duty
Corrosive environmentPowder-coated for ordinary acid or alkali · Galvanized for coastal and semi-outdoor · Stainless for high-salinity and high-humidity sites
CertificationMA coal-mine safety certified versions available — confirm the certified SKUs for your project
Outdoor useSuitable — coated and stainless options for coastal and weathering service

Technical overview

Training idlers automatically steer the belt back to center when it begins to drift. HBXM self-aligning idlers use a pivoting frame that responds to belt edge force, correcting mistracking before it damages the belt or structure.

How do self-aligning idlers work?

A guide roll senses belt edge pressure and pivots the whole idler set so the belt is nudged back toward the centerline.

Where should training idlers be placed?

Place them every 10 to 15 idlers along both carry and return strands, especially after transfers and on long centers.

Do they need a power supply?

No. They are fully mechanical and react to belt forces, so they work without sensors, wiring or controls.

How often do they need adjustment?

Once installed they are self-correcting and typically need no routine adjustment, only inspection during planned maintenance.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a self-aligning idler?

A self-aligning idler works purely from the belt's own edge forces. A hydraulic trainer uses a sensing roller and a hydraulic actuator, so it reacts earlier and is far more effective on long, heavily loaded or reversible belts.

Where should a hydraulic trainer be installed?

On the return strand, 5–15 m ahead of the drive pulley for reversible conveyors, or ahead of the point where the belt leaves the structure for one-way belts.

Does it need a power supply?

No. The actuator is driven hydraulically by the belt itself, so the device works with no electrical connection.
