Usage

Usage

Belt Slip Detector — a switch that compares pulley speed with belt speed and alarms or stops when the belt slips on the drive. Slip means the belt is being rubbed raw and can ignite from friction heat; the detector stops the conveyor before a cover fire or major tear. (Distinct from the zero-speed switch, which watches whether the belt is moving at all.)

Technical overview

Safety devices protect personnel and equipment around the conveyor. HBXM supplies pull-cord switches, belt sway and speed monitors, and emergency stops that integrate with your plant shutdown logic.

What safety devices does a conveyor need?

At minimum, pull-cord emergency stop along the length, plus belt sway and speed switches that trip the drive on fault.

How does a pull-cord switch work?

A tensioned cable runs the conveyor length; pulling it anywhere latches the switch and cuts power to the drive through your shutdown logic.

Are these devices explosion-proof?

We offer Ex d and Ex ib rated units for coal, grain and other hazardous areas; specify your zone when ordering.

Can they connect to an existing PLC?

Yes. Our switches output dry contacts or 4-20 mA signals that drop into standard PLC and relay shutdown circuits.
