Why use an impact bed at the loading zone?
It spreads the impact load across a wide support so the belt is not pinched between lumps and idlers, preventing premature belt and idler failure.

Overview
Usage
Buffer Idler Set — a group of rubber- or polyurethane-ringed idlers set under the loading point. The resilient rings compress to absorb the shock of ore, clinker or rock falling onto the belt, cutting impact by up to about 60% so the belt, idlers and splices are not punched through or broken. Used where the drop height is moderate (typically under roughly 3 m) and lump size is manageable, at crusher discharges and transfer points.
Operating conditions
| Working temperature | Ambient range (-20 °C to +40 °C); UHMW-PE and PU impact bars rated about -40 °C to +80 °C. |
|---|---|
| Dusty environment | Suitable — UHMW-PE and rubber impact bars resist dust and fines in the loading zone |
| Moisture & water | Suitable — UHMW-PE and rubber bars are unaffected by water; coated steel frames for wet duty |
| Corrosive environment | Powder-coated for ordinary acid or alkali · Galvanized for coastal and semi-outdoor · Stainless for high-salinity and high-humidity sites |
| Certification | MA coal-mine safety certified versions available — confirm the certified SKUs for your project |
| Outdoor use | Suitable — coated and stainless options for coastal and weathering service |
Impact beds and buffer bars absorb the shock of material falling onto the belt at loading points. HBXM bars use a UHMW top layer over energy-absorbing rubber to protect the belt, seal and idlers from impact damage.
It spreads the impact load across a wide support so the belt is not pinched between lumps and idlers, preventing premature belt and idler failure.
An impact bar is a single replaceable segment; an impact bed is a full-width frame of joined bars that supports the whole loading zone.
UHMW has very low friction so the belt slides smoothly over the bar instead of dragging, which reduces wear and power draw.
Service life depends on tonnage and lump size; in typical mining duty the UHMW surface runs for many months before bar replacement.

FAQ
At the loading point, directly under the chute, where the material drop would otherwise hammer the belt and the carrying idlers. They are usually fitted in place of the normal troughing set for the first few metres.
Depends on drop height and lump size — typically one to three sets, plus an impact bed if the drop exceeds about three metres or the material is sharp.
Yes. Send the drawing, the belt width and the shaft or bracket dimensions and we will match the set, including the bar compound and the mounting centres.
