Usage

Usage

Training Idler Set — self-aligning idlers whose frame pivots when the belt drifts, using friction against the belt edge to steer it back to centre. On long conveyors drift grows from load asymmetry and wind; these idlers stop edge damage, spillage and the belt climbing off the frame.

Operating conditions

Operating conditions

Working temperatureAmbient service range (-20 °C to +40 °C); sealed bearings and PU or ceramic parts tolerate wider material temperatures.
Dusty environmentSuitable — labyrinth or IP65 seals keep dust out of the bearings
Moisture & waterSuitable — IP65 sealing for outdoor, port, washdown and humid duty
Corrosive environmentPowder-coated for ordinary acid or alkali · Galvanized for coastal and semi-outdoor · Stainless for high-salinity and high-humidity sites
CertificationMA coal-mine safety certified versions available — confirm the certified SKUs for your project
Outdoor useSuitable — coated and stainless options for coastal and weathering service

Technical overview

Idlers are the rotating rollers that support the conveyor belt and the bulk load traveling on it. HBXM idlers cover belt widths up to 2400 mm and trough angles of 20 deg, 35 deg or 45 deg, with multi-labyrinth sealed bearings built for continuous duty in dust, moisture and fine powder.

What is the difference between carrying and return idlers?

Carrying idlers support the loaded top strand of the belt; return idlers support the empty bottom strand on its way back to the tail.

Why use a self-aligning idler?

A self-aligning idler automatically corrects belt mistracking, reducing edge wear, spillage and unplanned downtime.

What bearing seals does HBXM use?

We use non-contact multi-labyrinth seals that keep grease in and keep dust, water and fine powder out for a long service life.

Can idlers handle high-capacity mining lines?

Yes. Our heavy-duty series is specified for mines, ports and power plants with high belt speeds, large lump sizes and continuous operation.

What are conveyor rollers?

Conveyor rollers, also called idlers, are the rotating cylinders that carry the belt and the material on it. HBXM makes them in steel, UHMW-PE, nylon and polyurethane to suit different loads, belt speeds and environments.

How much do conveyor rollers cost?

Roller price depends on diameter, length, material (steel, UHMW-PE, polyurethane) and order quantity. Send your conveyor specs — belt width, load and environment — and we will quote an exact price and lead time.

What is a polyurethane conveyor roller used for?

Polyurethane rollers resist abrasion, oils and impact better than steel and run quieter, so they suit wet, sticky or abrasive material and applications where belt marking matters.

Highlights

Features

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does a self-aligning idler work?

The set is pivoted about a vertical axis. When the belt drifts, the edge loads one end of the rollers more, the set swivels, and the resulting skew angle steers the belt back to centre. It is pure mechanics.

Where should they be fitted?

On the carrying side, 10–20 m before the point where mistracking is worst, and always before the head pulley. Fitting them too close to the pulley leaves no length for the correction to act.

Do self-aligning idlers need a special frame?

Yes — a pivoting frame with stops. HBXM supplies the complete set: rollers, pivot frame and brackets.
