Usage

Usage

Troughed Idler — the standard 3-roll set that forms the carrying trough, holding the belt in a U so it carries the rated volume without spilling. The most numerous component on any conveyor, it defines the load path; the TD75 and DTII versions are its standard-built variants.

Operating conditions

Operating conditions

Working temperatureAmbient service range (-20 °C to +40 °C); sealed bearings and PU or ceramic parts tolerate wider material temperatures.
Dusty environmentSuitable — labyrinth or IP65 seals keep dust out of the bearings
Moisture & waterSuitable — IP65 sealing for outdoor, port, washdown and humid duty
Corrosive environmentPowder-coated for ordinary acid or alkali · Galvanized for coastal and semi-outdoor · Stainless for high-salinity and high-humidity sites
CertificationMA coal-mine safety certified versions available — confirm the certified SKUs for your project

Technical overview

Idlers are the rotating rollers that support the conveyor belt and the bulk load traveling on it. HBXM idlers cover belt widths up to 2400 mm and trough angles of 20 deg, 35 deg or 45 deg, with multi-labyrinth sealed bearings built for continuous duty in dust, moisture and fine powder.

What is the difference between carrying and return idlers?

Carrying idlers support the loaded top strand of the belt; return idlers support the empty bottom strand on its way back to the tail.

Why use a self-aligning idler?

A self-aligning idler automatically corrects belt mistracking, reducing edge wear, spillage and unplanned downtime.

What bearing seals does HBXM use?

We use non-contact multi-labyrinth seals that keep grease in and keep dust, water and fine powder out for a long service life.

Can idlers handle high-capacity mining lines?

Yes. Our heavy-duty series is specified for mines, ports and power plants with high belt speeds, large lump sizes and continuous operation.

What are conveyor rollers?

Conveyor rollers, also called idlers, are the rotating cylinders that carry the belt and the material on it. HBXM makes them in steel, UHMW-PE, nylon and polyurethane to suit different loads, belt speeds and environments.

How much do conveyor rollers cost?

Roller price depends on diameter, length, material (steel, UHMW-PE, polyurethane) and order quantity. Send your conveyor specs — belt width, load and environment — and we will quote an exact price and lead time.

What is a polyurethane conveyor roller used for?

Polyurethane rollers resist abrasion, oils and impact better than steel and run quieter, so they suit wet, sticky or abrasive material and applications where belt marking matters.

Highlights

Features

3-roll troughing

Standard trough set carries the bulk load across the section.

Load support

Engineered roll spacing for the rated belt tension.

Precision ERW steel shell

Tight radial runout ≤0.5 mm gives smooth, low-resistance rotation and long belt life.

Multi-stage labyrinth sealing

LS / CS / DS seals block dust, moisture and fine material from reaching the bearing cavity.

Long-life bearings

C3 clearance deep-groove ball bearings selected for 50,000+ operating hours.

Concentric press-fit housing

Cold-pressed stamped housings deliver a permanent, aligned seat on the tube ends.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which trough angle should I choose?

20° suits free-flowing, fine material and where cohesive strength is low; 35° is the general-purpose default; 45° is for coarse, lumpy ore where you need more capacity per belt width.

How do I space troughing idlers?

Spacing depends on belt tension, load and material — commonly 1.0–1.5 m on the carrying strand and 2.5–3.5 m on the return. Increase the density in the loading zone.

What bearing arrangement do you supply?

Deep-groove ball bearings with labyrinth or contact seals, C3 clearance, greased for life as standard, re-greasable on request.
