Usage

Usage

Rotary Brush Cleaner — a motor-driven brush that rotates against the return belt to flick off fine powder, dust, snow and ice that scrapers cannot reach. Paired after the primary and secondary scrapers on dusty, cold or powdery lines (cement, fertiliser, flour, winter operation) and on cleated or patterned belts where a blade cannot follow the surface.

Dusty environmentSuitable — PU or ceramic blades are unaffected by dust; no bearings to contaminate
Moisture & waterSuitable — PU blades and coated steel bodies take washdown; stainless for continuous wet duty
Corrosive environmentStainless blade holders available — powder-coated steel for ordinary acid or alkali, stainless for high-salinity sites

Technical overview

Belt cleaners scrape carryback off the return strand so material does not build up on pulleys, idlers and structure. HBXM offers primary and secondary cleaners with polyurethane or tungsten blades rated for wet, sticky and abrasive ores.

Why is a belt cleaner important?

Without cleaning, carryback wears pulleys and idlers, causes mistracking and creates housekeeping and safety hazards under the conveyor.

Primary vs secondary cleaner: which do I need?

Use a primary cleaner at the head pulley for bulk carryback, then a secondary cleaner downstream for the fine residual layer.

Which blade material lasts longest?

Polyurethane suits most dry and medium-abrasive ores; tungsten or ceramic-tipped blades are best for very hard, wet and sticky materials.

Can cleaners be retrofitted to an existing conveyor?

Yes. Our cleaners mount to standard stringer widths with adjustable tension and fit most head-pulley arrangements without conveyor modification.

Highlights

Features

Belt-width coverage

Covers belt widths 500–1600 mm across standard conveyor sections.

Motor power

Rated 0.37–1.1 kW to match your conveyor duty.

Self-adjusting tensioners

Spring / torque-arm tensioners keep blade contact uniform as the blade wears.

Polyurethane blade

PU compound Shore 85–95 A wipes carryback while staying gentle on the belt.

Modular mounting

Adjustable brackets fit B500–B2400 widths and head-pulley layouts.

Quick blade swap

Cartridges swap without removing the frame, cutting downtime.

Quality

1

Blade integrity

One-piece polyurethane blade cast to consistent Shore hardness for a clean wipe.

2

Tensioner reliability

Dual self-adjusting springs hold constant contact across the blade life.

3

Frame strength

Welded beam load-tested for pulley-side installation.

4

Finish options

Epoxy / powder coat or full stainless for port and coastal duty.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is a brush cleaner better than a scraper?

With fibrous loads (wood chips, biomass, recycled fibre) and with very fine dry dust that a blade simply rides over. Brushes also work well as a secondary stage after a primary scraper.

How do I set the brush contact pressure?

Start with light contact and increase until carry-back stops. Over-pressing is the main cause of premature bristle wear and of belt cover polishing.

What brush material should I choose?

Nylon for general duty, polypropylene where moisture or chemicals are present, and abrasion-resistant nylon where the load is gritty.
