Take-up
Device that keeps proper belt tension — gravity, screw or hydraulic.
Gravity take-up
Counterweight take-up giving a constant, automatic tension.
Screw take-up
Manual screw-adjusted take-up for short conveyors.
Hydraulic take-up
Power take-up that sets tension automatically; used on long or high-power conveyors.
Take-up travel
Distance the take-up carriage can move; it must cover belt elongation plus splice reserve.
Pre-tension
Initial tension set before loading so the belt tracks and does not slip at start-up.
Fixed take-up
Take-up set once at installation; no automatic compensation for stretch.
Sliding (carriage) take-up
Take-up pulley on a carriage that moves along rails to set and hold tension.
Winch take-up
Take-up where a winch and rope pull the carriage to tension the belt.
Take-up carriage
Wheeled or sliding frame that carries the take-up pulley.
Take-up tower
Vertical structure housing a gravity take-up weight.
Counterweight
Weight that provides constant gravity tension; sized from the required belt tension.
Take-up pulley bracket
Bracket tying the take-up pulley to the carriage or screw.
Automatic tension control
Hydraulic or electric control that holds belt tension within a set band.
Take-up rail
Guide track along which the take-up carriage slides.
Take-up winch
Motorised drum and rope that pulls the take-up pulley to set belt tension; used on long and steel-cord conveyors.
Pneumatic take-up
Cylinder that maintains tension at a set pressure, absorbing shock loads while holding a nearly constant value.
Counterweight take-up
Self-adjusting gravity take-up: the weight sets tension and moves automatically as the belt stretches.
Automatic belt tensioner
Controlled take-up that continuously adjusts tension to the running condition, reducing start-up stress on the carcass.
Belt cleaner tensioner
Spring or pneumatic unit that holds the cleaner blade against the belt at constant pressure as the blade wears.
